Conquest of Japan
About this game
Conquest of Japan is a turn-based strategy game originally released for DOS in 1991. Developed by The Avalon Hill Game Company, it allows players to take on the role of a military leader vying for control of feudal Japan during the late Sengoku period (16th century). This was a period of intense warfare and political instability, where various samurai clans fought for dominance. Map and Territories: The game map is a representation of Japan divided into various regions. Each region has its own resources, population, and defensive capabilities. As the player, you must control key provinces, build armies, and fortify your positions. Turn-Based Strategy: Each turn allows players to manage their clan, move armies, and make important decisions like attacking enemy territories, recruiting units, and constructing buildings. There is also a strong emphasis on managing the economy and diplomacy. Battles: When armies meet, combat occurs in a tactical format. The battle system is more abstract than detailed simulations; its more about the strategic deployment and army size. Victory Conditions: To win the game, a player must either defeat all other clans or achieve other specific objectives that might include forming a powerful alliance, controlling a majority of regions, or influencing other political aspects of the game.
