About this game

Stratego is a game of military strategy where two players take on the role of commanders, each controlling an army on a 10x10 grid. The goal of the game is to capture the opponents Flag while defending your own. The game combines hidden information (each players pieces are facedown) with tactical movement, bluffing, and strategic placement. Game Rules and Mechanics: Army Setup: Each player has a set of 40 pieces, which include ranked officers, bombs, and the flag. Players place their pieces on the 10x10 grid before the game starts, and the setup is crucial to how the game unfolds. Ranks range from 1 (Marshall, the strongest) to 9 (Scout, the weakest). Bombs are immovable pieces that cannot be moved but can destroy any piece that attacks them, except for the miner. Flag: The ultimate piece that must be captured by the opponent. Movement: Each piece moves in a different manner: Scouts can move any number of spaces horizontally or vertically. Other pieces move one square at a time, vertically or horizontally. Bombs and Flags don’t move at all. Combat: When two pieces from opposite sides land on the same square, they battle. The piece with the higher rank wins, and the lower-ranked piece is removed from the board. If the ranks are the same, both pieces are destroyed. Only miners can defuse bombs, and scouts can be used to explore or engage from a distance. Special Pieces: Spy: The spy can defeat the Marshall (rank 1) if it attacks it, but it is vulnerable to any other piece. Miner: Can defuse bombs, which other pieces cannot do. Victory Condition: The goal is to capture the opponent’s flag while protecting your own. The first player to do so wins.
