About this game

In this interesting puzzle game, you control a blue balloon that is slowly losing air. (Although I always thought it was a ball of ice that was slowly melting.) You move throught the levels collecting gems; the catch is, as you move you lose air in the balloon, making your balloon smaller to navigate through tighter areas, but if you run out of air the game is over. A neat idea that is well executed with decent EGA graphics, but its a very difficult game.Helious is a 3D space shooter game developed for MS-DOS in the early 1990s. It is set in outer space, where players control a spacecraft navigating through dangerous environments and engaging in intense combat with enemies. The game’s graphics, mechanics, and style contributed to its place among the genre of space combat simulators and shooters. Gameplay In Helious, players assume the role of a space pilot who must battle hostile forces, avoid space debris, and survive waves of enemies. The game features a variety of levels, each with different objectives, ranging from dogfighting with enemy ships to navigating asteroid fields or avoiding environmental hazards. Key Mechanics: Spacecraft Controls: Players control a spaceship, with a variety of movement options including thrust, turning, and aiming weapons. The game features a first-person perspective, with a cockpit view of the ship’s instruments and a 3D environment outside. Combat: Players use lasers, missiles, and other weapons to take on enemy spacecraft and structures. Defeating enemies earns points, upgrades, or new equipment. Levels and Missions: Helious consists of multiple levels, each with its own set of objectives such as defeating a boss, escorting a convoy, or surviving waves of enemy ships. Some missions may have time constraints or specific challenges like navigating through asteroid fields. Power-Ups and Upgrades: Players can collect power-ups or in-game currency to upgrade their ships weaponry, shields, or speed. 3D Environment: Helious was notable for utilizing early 3D graphics in the space shooter genre, allowing players to navigate a fully three-dimensional environment.
