About this game

It sorta looks and plays like the original Zelda for the NES. I say sorta because its very simplistic in nature. Like Zelda, there is no story given at the start of the game. It probably wont hold your interest for very long. The zipfile is so small (22k!), so you may be tempted to download it anyways, but note that this does not seem to run well under DOSBox.Gemworld is a classic puzzle game from the early 90s, originally designed for the DOS platform. In this engaging game, players are tasked with matching gems and collecting them as they progress through various levels. The game features a colorful grid-based system where different types of gems appear and the player must line them up in certain patterns to score points. Key Features: Gem-Matching Gameplay: Gemworld revolves around a grid where players need to match gems of the same color in rows or columns to clear them from the board. The mechanics are simple yet satisfying: the more gems you clear in one move, the higher your score. The game often requires planning and strategy to create larger combos or chain reactions, where matching a few gems triggers a series of additional matches. Multiple Gem Types: The game features different types of gems, each with its own color and appearance. These include standard gems, special gems that may have power-ups, and sometimes obstacles that make the gameplay more challenging. Each type of gem interacts differently, creating dynamic and evolving strategies as the game progresses. Grid-Based Puzzle System: Gemworld is played on a grid, and each level introduces a new configuration of gems, making each puzzle unique. The layout may become more complex with obstacles or empty spaces, requiring careful planning and foresight. As you progress through the game, the grid can become larger, with more gems to match and more obstacles to overcome. Levels and Difficulty: The game features multiple levels, each with increasing difficulty. As you advance, the puzzles get harder, with new types of obstacles or more gems to match. Later levels may have specific objectives, such as clearing certain colors of gems, or making matches under a time limit, adding layers of challenge to the gameplay. Power-Ups and Bonuses: Special power-ups may appear during the game, helping players clear large sections of the grid or gain bonus points. These power-ups can be game-changers, allowing for faster progression or a higher score. Bonuses are also awarded for creating larger combinations or clearing multiple rows/columns in one move, encouraging players to think ahead for optimal matches.
