EGA Poker
About this game
This is a fairly basic but well done version of draw poker. You use the mouse to make your bet, then decide whether to draw or stay, etc. The only bad thing is that the different suits can sometimes be hard to distinguish. Other than that its easy to play, although you wont win any money playing this, even if it turns out that youre unnaturally good at this "gambling" game.EGA Poker (DOS) is a classic poker simulation game released for the DOS platform during the 1980s and early 1990s. The game allows players to engage in various poker games with computer opponents, and it was designed to offer a realistic poker experience within the limitations of early personal computer graphics and interfaces. Classic Poker Variants: Texas Holdem: The most popular version of poker, where each player is dealt two cards and shares five community cards. Five-Card Draw: Each player is dealt five cards, and the goal is to make the best hand by discarding and drawing new cards. Seven-Card Stud: Players receive seven cards, some face-up and others face-down, and must form the best hand out of the seven cards. AI Opponents: Players face off against computer-controlled opponents who each have their own strategies and betting behaviors. AI opponents are typically programmed to bluff, raise bets, or fold based on the current situation, simulating a more realistic poker environment. Simple EGA Graphics: The game was designed for the EGA graphics standard, which provided 16 colors for visuals. The graphics, while primitive by today’s standards, still offered clear card representations and basic animation for dealing and betting actions. The user interface included a table with a visible pot, player cards, and actions such as bet, raise, fold, and check. Betting and Payout System: Players could place bets, raise, call, or fold based on the strength of their hands and the community cards revealed during the game. The game typically follows a standard poker payout system, with players winning chips or virtual money based on the hand rankings they achieve. Poker Hands and Ranking: EGA Poker follows the standard poker hand rankings: Royal Flush Straight Flush Four of a Kind Full House Flush Straight Three of a Kind Two Pair One Pair High Card Players aim to build the highest-ranking hand possible based on the cards they are dealt. Game Modes: Single-Player Mode: Players compete against the computer, which simulates human-like betting behavior and decision-making. Multiplayer Mode (if available): In some versions, players can compete against other human players, either through local networks or hot-seat play where players take turns.
