EdChess

About this game

EdChess (later re-published as commercial software under the more generic and enthusiastic name Chess!) is a computer chess program in text-mode. It allows play of two human players, play against the CPU, or watching a CPU vs CPU match. The pieces are represented crudely with 3x3 or 3x2 ASCII boxes. You can change the ability of the CPU by modifying the "difficulty" (maximum thinking time for the computer) and "think ahead" (whether the CPU can be processing while youre making your move). You can also review the moves made by going forward or backward. Overall its a fairly basic but competent chess program.
