Asterocks is a nicely crafted remake of the classic arcade game Asteroids. The goal is the same: Blast all of the asteroids, which break into smaller asteroids when you shoot them. Also avoid the UFOs that frequently attack you. The challenge level starts out reasonably high and increases with each wave.CHAMP Asterocks is a 1996 DOS arcade game developed by CHAMP Games as a modernized tribute to Ataris iconic Asteroids. Like its inspiration, the game features fast-paced action set in space, where players control a small ship tasked with blasting apart asteroids and avoiding various hazards. Objective: Survive as long as possible while destroying asteroids and enemy ships to achieve the highest score. Core Mechanics: Players navigate a spaceship within a two-dimensional playfield. Asteroids drift across the screen, breaking into smaller fragments when hit. Enemies occasionally appear, adding variety and challenge. Ship Controls: Rotate the ship to aim. Use thrusters to move and dodge incoming objects. A hyperspace option allows for a quick escape but has unpredictable results. Scoring: Points are awarded for destroying asteroids and enemy ships. Chain reactions and higher-level hazards increase the score potential. Difficulty: The game becomes progressively harder with faster-moving asteroids, more aggressive enemies, and increased hazards.
