Bumpmaze
About this game
Bumpmaze is a unique and not very fun game where the object is to "bump" the ball until it bounces into a hole. Its one of the earliest offerings from William Soleau before began focusing more on strategy / puzzle games. The ball continually bounces around at 45 degree angles in one of six randomly selected maze layouts, and you guide your "pusher" to try to nudge it where you want it to go.Bumpmaze is a classic DOS-based maze game where players navigate through mazes while avoiding obstacles and trying to reach a specific goal. It’s a puzzle and strategy game that focuses on moving through a grid-like maze, often encountering challenges and needing to figure out the most efficient way to get through. Gameplay Mechanics: Objective: The primary objective of Bumpmaze is to guide your character through a maze, usually filled with walls, obstacles, and traps, while trying to reach the exit. In some versions, you may need to collect items or complete other tasks before the exit becomes accessible. Movement: The player controls a character that moves through a grid-like maze, typically using the arrow keys or a joystick (if using a DOS-compatible controller). The character moves one square at a time, and the maze might be viewed from a top-down or isometric perspective, depending on the specific version. Maze Layout: The mazes in Bumpmaze may have varying difficulty levels, with increasing complexity as the player progresses. Some mazes might feature doors that can only be opened by collecting certain items or solving puzzles in specific ways. Some versions of the game may include teleporters or other types of maze mechanics that add complexity. Bumping Mechanic: The "Bump" part of Bumpmaze refers to a mechanic where players must bump into certain objects or elements in the maze to clear paths, open doors, or disable traps. This mechanic can involve either manually pushing elements or triggering specific actions by moving into them. Some versions might have objects like crates, stones, or other movable elements that players can bump to open new paths or block enemies. Enemies and Hazards: As the player progresses through the maze, there may be enemies or hazards that require quick reflexes or strategic thinking to avoid. Enemies may move in predictable patterns or follow the player, adding an extra layer of challenge. Traps like spikes, pits, or timed doors may add difficulty, requiring players to carefully plan their moves.
