Blockage
About this game
Blockage is a challenging puzzle game for DOS, where players are tasked with navigating through a grid filled with movable blocks. The goal is to clear paths, rearrange the blocks, and solve complex puzzles to reach specific objectives, such as unlocking doors or creating a clear path to an exit. The game combines elements of strategy, logic, and problem-solving, requiring careful planning and foresight to complete each level. Features: Block Manipulation Mechanics: The primary gameplay involves pushing and moving blocks within a confined space. Players need to think carefully about the placement of each block in order to create clear pathways, unlock obstacles, or solve puzzles that allow them to progress to the next level. Puzzle Solving: Each level presents unique challenges where players must figure out how to move the blocks and other objects in the right sequence. The puzzles can become increasingly complex as the player progresses, requiring them to think several moves ahead and avoid making mistakes that could block progress permanently. Obstacles and Hazards: As players manipulate the blocks, they must avoid various obstacles and hazards that make the puzzles more difficult. These could include walls that block movement, locked doors, or moving platforms. Some levels may also have timers or other challenges that add pressure to solving the puzzle quickly. Increasing Difficulty: The difficulty of Blockage increases with each level. Early levels are relatively straightforward, focusing on simple block movement, but as the game progresses, the puzzles become more intricate, with multiple types of blocks, complicated environments, and more advanced challenges to overcome. Simple Keyboard Controls: The game utilizes basic keyboard controls, making it easy to learn and play. Players move their character or the blocks using arrow keys or other specific keys, which allows for intuitive interactions with the game environment. Precision and timing are important to successfully navigate each puzzle. This simple Arkanoid clone has decent graphics and offers fast, no-frills gameplay. There are some lively graphics effects as well to keep things interesting. Pretty impressive considering the zip file is only 5k in size! (Note: If youre playing this in DOSBox and the mouse wont move, try pressing Ctrl-F10 to lock the mouse to the window.)
