Bert and the Snake
About this game
Bert and the Snake is a passable variant of the popular 80s arcade game Q*Bert. The object and gameplay is the same: Jump on all of the tiles to change their color before being killed by the snake, and/or the fruit which falls from the top. Later levels require two steps per tile, etc. Bert and the Snake is a retro DOS-based arcade puzzle game where players take on the role of Bert, tasked with navigating a maze to capture a tricky snake. Combining elements of strategy and timing, players must avoid traps and outsmart the snake to complete each level. The game’s simple yet challenging mechanics offer a fun experience for players of all ages. Features: Maze Navigation: Guide Bert through various maze-like levels to capture the elusive snake. Each level is designed with obstacles, traps, and moving elements that require quick thinking and strategy to overcome. Puzzle Elements: As you progress, the snake becomes more difficult to catch, and the mazes grow in complexity. Solve puzzles along the way, such as activating switches or avoiding traps, to move closer to your goal. Avoid Obstacles: The maze is filled with dangers such as walls, pitfalls, and other obstacles. Bert must be careful to avoid these while keeping track of the snakes movements to corner it. Increased Difficulty: As you advance through the levels, the maze designs become more intricate, the snake becomes faster and more unpredictable, and the challenges grow in complexity. Simple Controls: Easy-to-use controls allow players to quickly navigate through the maze, making it accessible for both new and experienced players. Charming Graphics: Enjoy colorful, pixelated graphics typical of classic DOS games, with a cute and quirky design that adds personality to the game. Engaging Sound Effects: Retro sound effects accompany the gameplay, providing feedback for player actions like moving, catching the snake, and triggering traps.
