Checkers
About this game
Classic board game, defeat your opponent by capturing his piece and try to promote your piece to a King. Checkers HTML is a browser-based version of the classic game of checkers (also known as draughts), allowing players to enjoy the game directly through a web browser. The game follows the traditional rules of checkers, where two players take turns moving their pieces on a board in an attempt to capture or block the opponents pieces. Objective: The primary objective is to either capture all the opponent’s pieces or trap them so they cannot make a move. Capturing is done by jumping over an opponents piece, and when a piece reaches the opponents last row, it is "kinged," giving it additional movement abilities. Board Setup: The game is played on a square 8x8 grid. Each player starts with 12 pieces placed on the dark squares of the board (rows 1-3 for one player, and rows 6-8 for the other). Pieces can only move on the dark squares of the board. Movement: Regular Move: A piece can move one square diagonally forward to an empty space. Jumping/ Capturing: If an opponents piece occupies an adjacent square, and the square immediately beyond it is empty, you can jump over the opponent’s piece and capture it. Capturing is mandatory in many versions of the game. Kinging: When a piece reaches the farthest row from its starting position (the opponents side), it is "kinged" and gains the ability to move both forward and backward diagonally. Winning the Game: The game is won either when one player captures all of the opponent’s pieces or traps them such that they cannot make a legal move.
